Brooke Charter High School

The new Brooke Charter High School is the newest facility in the Brooke Charter Schools network in Boston, housing 600 students enrolled in the high school program as well as 180 students attending the Eight Grade Academy. Beyond core and specialty classrooms, the new High School includes a lecture hall, a gymnasium, and various administrative and support spaces.

The 93,000 sf building takes advantage of its sloping site along American Legion Highway: the main entrance, located on the South side, leads into the Lower level, which ends as the site slopes up. The North entrance leads into Level 2 and is adjacent to the lecture hall, which was designed so that the tiered audience seating fits within the site’s existing topography.

Arrowstreet delivered Construction Documents in 2017, and school started operating in the Fall of 2018. I was responsible for the coordination and detailing of the lecture hall, and various parts of the exterior envelope detailing.
